SCHOOLTRIP WITH “TORTAS”
“Tortas” in Brussels, “Tortas” in Bruges and in Leuven. In Liege we had “tortas” as well. Moreover, we crossed the border and in Delft and Amsterdam there were “tortas” too. Tortas: the most international word heard among students in the bus in the almost 3000 km we covered for a week on the school trip of second year baccalaureate.
It was a long and tiring journey, but conversations in the bus were hilarious: jokes, interviews, funny guided tours… The places we visited were amazing: Brussels, the capital of Europe, with the astonishing Grand Place and the European Parliament, where we could sit and learn about the way the European Union works. We could also sightsee small places such as Bruges or Leuven, but with an amazing architectural treasure to be discovered along the streets. The awesome city of Liege welcomed us with an incredible good weather and quiet streets to be enjoyed on a Sunday morning.
Moving to The Netherlands was breathtaking: spectacular landscapes embellished with old windmills. On our way to the lively Amsterdam, we stopped at Delft, a must-see in the country and Vermeer’s birthplace. It was a unique experience walking along the canals or crossing the bustling streets packed with trams and bikes. Amsterdam, a city also connected to well-known people such as Van Gogh, Anne Frank or Rembrandt.
It was a short but unforgettable trip, with good company and good weather. It was tiring but it was worth it, and do you know what? Yes, you are right; we also had “tortas” on the way back!
